Aromatherapy for the Home with Organic Aromas: A Review
I have been fortunate enough to be contacted by Organic Aromas, who found out I am a lover of all things fragrance and home scents, asking me to try out their home diffusing kit. Not sure what to expect, I agreed; thank goodness I did, because I have managed to get my hands on a piece of pretty decent kit.
The diffuser silently nebulizes essential oils and diffuses them into the air in the form of mist and air droplets. There is no heat or water involved; just a unit that can be plugged into a mains socket. The intensity of the diffusion can be controlled with a dial and while diffusing the oils, it displays a calming show of changing multi-coloured LED light.
I've used candles, wax burners and reed scent sticks before, so I didn't know what to expect. Set up was quite straight forward, thanks to the picture guide, and took me less than 5 minutes to put together. The kit itself looks and feels high quality- my particular kit is the Raindrop Nebulizing Diffuser, in a soft brown colour.
It was actually pretty mesmerising to watch and I could smell the product within only a few seconds of starting the cycle. I left mine on for only 10 minutes because it was more than enough to fill the whole house, door open. The scent faded completely around 2 hours later- which is crazy for a mere 10 minutes.
I am pleasantly surprised and delighted to have had the opportunity to test this product out. I see the appeal and practicality of using this over a candle- no smelly smoke, no fire hazards so safe to use all around the house and in rented properties, and no opportunity for the flame to be blown out by a wintery draft. Whilst reed diffuser scents are not very noticeable, this machine is extremely potent- I would say, if you do not like very strong smells to adhere to my 10 minute cycle window, because I can tell this device has the ability to completely saturate the air with scent.
Plus, it's a great talking point for visitors who walk through the door and wonder what on Earth the little machine on your coffee table is doing blowing curls of mist into the air.
I would recommend this as a gift for a candle lover who wants a new kind of fragrance experience, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

Disclaimer: The product was sent to me by Organic Aromas in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I have not benefited financially from this review.

Isle of Wight Travel Diary
A visual round up of my long weekend in the Isle of Wight
If you ever want a little holiday within the UK that looks and feels like the bright coastal towns of the Mediterranean, then the Isle of Wight is for you.
I expected to take a trip to another traditional English seashore located much further south than I have ever been, but was pleasantly surprised that the isle just off the edge of Portsmouth was more or less an undiscovered little haven; considering the total journey took 8 hours, it was well worth the trip!
My group of four girls plus myself stayed in the quiet east coast town of Sundown, travelled to the furthest west point of the island to visit the famous Needles white cliff tops, walked around the popular streets of Ryde and kicked about at a beach in Shanklin.
The island offered lots of cheap food spots, including numerous fish and chip bars and tea rooms. We stayed with a family friend and commuted across the island using the tourist Island Breezer service, which runs every day and at both early and late hours.
Famous for the Isle of Wight festival, if you like mixing in with the locals, you can probably find a local music event or festival to fit your budget and music taste- but be warned, they shut off streets and bus services to accommodate such events, so you might end up stranded if you haven't sorted previous transport arrangements. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities to hop in a boat and tour the island by water or cable car.
Overall, a beautiful place to go for a tonne of sunshine and relaxation, particularly for the music lover and the aviophobic!

Bra-blems: Bra Issues and Hacks to fix them!
Here’s a sad story- I just went through a "bra breakup".
I’m sure we all have that one bra that fits very well, doesn’t hurt our back and doesn’t show up through sheer shirts, so we wear it all the time (obviously washing at regular periods). This week, my favourite bra decided to break and stabbed me in the chest while I was minding my own business and getting on with my day. I had to wait in pain until I could get home and assess the damage and mortified to find that the wire had completely broken through the fabric.
I’m sure we have all been there and experienced some “bra-blems”, so I thought I would share some advice on how to go about fixing these problems.

"Wire stab" problem
The easiest thing to do is to sew up the problem. Cover the end of the wire with some tape ( masking tape is the best for this) to smooth out the sharp edge and prevent more piercing. Re-insert the wire and sew the fabric back together, securing the stitches with fabric glue or clear nail paint
TIP: I had to learn the hard way, but, you should store your bras open in a drawer, not "cup within cup" or folded as it can mess up the moulding and cause the underwire to pierce through the fabric

If your straps are slipping, it seems obvious, but try tightening the straps, ensuring that they are the same length. One strap that is too long will create a gap in the strap pn the other side and will give you lopsided support.
TIP: use a pantyliner! This sounds weird but if you cut a thin strip from an unused pantyliner and place the sticky side against your skin, your straps are less likely to slip anywhere!
Time for a smaller band! Digging straps means that either your band has stretched out or you have purchased a band that is too big in the first place.
TIP: Sometimes I like to go for a great strapless- it frees the heavy feeling in my shoulders and I, of course, don't struggle on that day with strap problems.

"Quad boob" problem
I used to get this all the time, especially when I wore tighter shirts. This can be fixed by going up a cup size e.g. if you are a 36b, you should be buying a 36c
TIP: How can you tell if you have the right bra size? If you lift your arms over your head and your band is lying flat and the cups contain all of your breast tissue, then you are wearing the right size!

REVIEW: Go Native Apartments, Kensington
I honestly can't complain about my job, especially when I have the opportunity to travel with my team to different events- last month I went along to the Ideal Home Show as an exhibitor.
I don't know why, but I always look forward to staying in a hotel while away, especially if I haven't stayed there before- so I was in for a treat when I stayed at Go Native Kensington, serviced apartments in Central London. The hotel location was perfect, close enough to London Olympia but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of traffic; in addition there was a large Tesco at the end of the street.
I shared a two bedroom apartment with kitchen with a colleague and was instantly impressed with how clean and spacious it was, not to mention how many amenities were included in the apartment.
I really appreciated the double bedroom and ensuite; there was enough space on the floor for my suitcase (and mess) and plenty of wardrobe space to hang up clothes. Since the apartment was self serviced, the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, even a washing machine/ tumble dryer and dishwasher.
My only complaint was with the heating system, which didn't seem to work, but the hotel swiftly provided replacement heaters.
This was a great place to come back to every night after the event and I managed to get a great night's sleep without waking up in thee middle of the night because of noise next door or on the floors below.
Thank you Go Native for a great stay!

Bridesmaids Dinner at Hilton Hotel
~
At the beginning of the month, I had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton Hotel in Croydon for a girls night in before a wedding. The hotel was by far the best I have ever stayed in (mainly because I tend to go to the cheapest ones I can find.)
Our group of six was treated to two luxury junior suite rooms, which were spacious and well made over and a three course meal in The Larder, the resturant downstairs in the lobby.

@ The Larder
STARTER
Cod, Cornish Brie and Bacon Fishcake served with caramelised onion and Pina Colada
I decided to go with this fishcake for starters because I liked the sound of the bacon and brie. This was extremely crispy and the inside of the cake was seasoned very well which I was initially afraid about as my previous experiences of fishcakes have been bland.
If you know me, when faced with a menu of drinks I have never heard of before, I chose my go to and call it a night- The Pina Colada.
Melle's starter: Truffle Mushrooms on toasted brioche |
Kelita's starter: Scallops with mushy peas, chorizo crisp an |
DINNER
Braised Pork Belly with crushed new potatoes, glazed carrots, stewed peach and apple gravy
Onto the main course, which was essentially just pork and veg, but was actually a very succulent and fatty piece of pork belly with seriously good vegetables and gravy. I was sold at the sound of the peach and apple gravy and just because I was particularly craving pork. The only thing I wish was a little different on the pork was the crackling which was solid, I couldn't get my knife or teeth through it, and I was bitterly disappointed because it looked delicious.
Bea's main: Garlic and thyme chicken with ratatouille vegetables and leek and pan gravy |
Chocolate Brownie Sundae
Last but not least, dessert. By this point, I was quite full, but I always have space in my stomach for some dessert, in this case a huge brownie sundae. Unfortunately, I only managed about half of this, which was probably a good thing because it was mostly cream and ice-cream and I was in "24 hour bridesmaid mode". The brownies at the bottom were pretty chunky and hard, I thought I was going to break my teeth.
Kelita's dessert: Apple crumble and custard |
THE "WINE-DOWN"
Prosecco and Chill
Finally to finish the night off, we washed our food down with a bottle of Prosecco (that's to share, not each!)
Overall, it was a great experience because of the peaceful atmosphere, the lovely staff and of course the delicious food.
Thanks to the bestie for a wonderful evening in!
Cheers!
God Bless
