SUITED FOR SUMMER: FEMMELUXE JUMPSUIT COLLECTION REVIEW | AD

Although I have no idea which week of lockdown we are in, I am absolutely positive that I am ready to return to life as normal and to spend more time outside my home than in it.
Putting on anything other than socks and sweats is going to take some time getting used to, but dreaming up summer outfits will be a good way to plan ahead and make the most of the upcoming good (fingers crossed) weather.

FemmeLuxeFinery read my mind (again!), because they were kind enough to let me pick out 3 pieces from their jumpsuit collection.
I was intrigued because jumpsuits are definitely a hit or miss for me. If the crotch is the right size, then the leg length is too short. If there is enough support for the chest area, then the butt area is too small. It is hard for me, at 5’5, to find flattering jumpsuits, that suit my figure, keep me modest AND don’t break the bank.

FYI:
I wore a standard black t-shirt bra for this try-on, which is obviously not what I would choose. I did this to show where the neck lines end in relation to underwear.

My body:
HEIGHT: 5FT 5IN
TOP SIZE: UK 10
BOTTOM SIZE: UK 10
BODY SHAPE: PEAR

This red jumpsuit was my first pick. Red is one of my favourite colours for the summer and I already own a bold red culotte jumpsuit that I bought for a trip to Holland two years ago.

I would call this a day jumpsuit, but I loved the asymmetrical straps which added a little edge and style. Thankfully just like the other two pieces that I have reviewed, the leg length is more than long enough and would probably need an inch to be taken off if anything.

One thing I noticed about this jumpsuit was that the material was lightweight and stretchy, but also slightly unforgiving e.g. if you had a big lunch beforehand it would definitely show up. If that bothers you, you could consider shapewear, however you would have to ensure that it is VPL and matches your skin tone as the material is also thin and see-through, as shown in one of the pictures.

Cut off your labels!

This jumpsuit looked beautiful on the model and I thought it would be a great choice for a summer birthday dinner outfit.

I have been eager to expand my neutrals wardrobe and currently have an obsession with stone and beige (if you could see my current Wishlist and online purchases!).

Unfortunately, this jumpsuit did not fit me perfectly. From one of the pictures, you can see that the bottom half fitted fine (note: this slinky material was also quite thin and see-through like the red jumpsuit, so would also require skin tone underwear), but the top half which was one-shouldered, offered no support under the exposed arm and caused an unattractive drop, showing off my bra strap. Again, I would recommend purchasing some special underwear for this one, probably a stick- on bra, boob tape or daisies, because the drop was quite low for my liking.

My favourite part however, was the corset styled stomach region which did quite a good job of “carving” my figure; I also loved the long ruched sleeve.

For both of these jumpsuits, I am predicting disaster should they come into contact with oils of any kind, this kind of material is quite unforgiving in that sense, so be careful of the legs dragging on the ground and oily makeup smudges.

Back in the spring, I remembered seeing sage green everywhere.

For my birthday, I bought a few outfits to consider for a night out and  I actually purchased a slinky ruched midi dress from FemmeLuxe in stone and sage green because I couldn’t decide which one to go with. I ended up sending the sage green one back, so I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to finally add to the colour to my wardrobe.

The main difference between this jumpsuit and the other two was the material which was a lot more sturdy and therefore, offered less stretch. As a result, I felt that this jumpsuit clung stiffly my body rather than “gliding” with it, and so created rolls in the arms, on the obliques and in the crotch region when I moved. I think I could have personally benefited with a bigger size. However, I do think that this piece would have a great chance in the washing machine, surviving several washes!

My pictures do not do the colour justice-  it was definitely a richer, more vibrant green. The uncovered area offered more support than the beige jumpsuit, however, a stick on bra would still be a good idea.

The saving grace of any outfit is a belt of some kind because it creates waist from nothing - thank goodness for such belt! As soon as I tied it, I felt a lot better – without it, I was getting brick body vibes!

Despite the underarm issue with the stone jumpsuit, I think all three provided stylish options for a variety of summer activities. Whether it is drinks with the girls, a back garden cookout, date night or a daytime chill, I am sure anyone can find a jumpsuit on Femme Luxe’s website to fit their needs. If you are a fan of red or stone, they have dedicated collections for you to try out here:

To summarise as long as you have the correct support wear underneath, you’re pretty much set for an #outfitgoals Summer!
I am off to buy some fashion tape.
